Parks and Recreation

The Village of Fort Loramie takes great pride in our parks and recreational areas. Our parks exceptional for both youth and adult recreational activities.

Community Park

The Community Park centrally located in the middle of the Village at the intersection of Louis and Lane St. This park was recently renovated with the two ball diamonds being completely reconstructed with new dugouts, fencing, and grass.  The Community Park has two ball diamonds as well as playground equipment, tennis courts, basketball courts, horse shoe pits, walking path and a shelter house with restroom facilities. This park is a grassy open area and lighted for recreational activities.
The shelter house can be reserved for private gatherings.
The reservation fee is $50.00 due at the time of the reservation.

Canal Park

The Canal Park is located in the downtown business district of the Village. The Village is in the process of making some major improvements to the Canal Park. The centerpiece of the project will be a gazebo that will be built in the center of the park. The Gazebo is being funded by the Fort Loramie Area Chamber of Commerce with funds generated from the German Heritage Days Festivals. The project will also include a new concrete walking path through the park, new landscaping and park benches.

Redskin Memorial Park

Redskin Memorial Park is a new park currently under constructing. The park is located on the east side of the Village adjacent from the High School at 605 East Park St.  This park will have 4 softball/baseball diamonds, playground area, 5.5 acre wooded area, walking trails and open green space.  The projected completion date for this park will be 2017. Lake Loramie State Park

Lake Loramie State Park is right in our back yard only 1/2 mile east of the Village. Originally created in 1825 as a reservoir for the Miami-Erie Canal system, Lake Loramie offers an expansive no wake zone perfect for canoeing, as well as an open zone for power boating. Hike 8 miles of trails that trace the route of the historic Miami-Erie Canal. Several picnic areas around the lake offer tables and grills.

 

1,655-acre Lake Loramie offers a sand beach. From sailing to speed boats, all boating is permitted with no horsepower limit. Seasonal dock rentals are available. 5 launch ramps provide access to the lake. Fishing can be enjoyed from shore, the accessible fishing dock, or the lake. Hunting is permitted in designated areas.

 

The campground offers 164 campsites with electric hookups and 16 non-electric sites. Pets are allowed on designated sites. Amenities include showers, restrooms and campers beach. Enjoy hassle-free camping in a Rent-A-Camp, or relax with the comforts of home in a Cedar Cabin.
