Mayor - Matt Hoying

Welcome to the Village of Fort Loramie website.  My name is Matt Hoying and I am the Mayor of the Village of Fort Loramie.  A little about me… I am the son of Ron and Lynn Hoying, I am a lifelong resident of the Village Fort Loramie, I graduated from Fort Loramie High School in 1995 (Go Redskins!), I am a member of, and I regularly attend, Saint Michael’s Catholic Church here in the Village.  I also work in the Village as well, where I am currently the Vice President at Reliable Business Solutions Inc., and I am a proud member of the Sons of The American Legion Fort Loramie Post 355.  I was married here in the Village to by beautiful wife Carrie, and we have raised our 4 children right here as well.  Prior to serving as the Mayor of the Village of Fort Loramie, I served on the Fort Loramie Village Council for 14 consecutive years.  I am a very proud American, I strongly support our U.S. military, our current uniformed servicemen and servicewomen, our U.S. military veterans, and I fully support all parts of the U.S. Constitution.  I enjoy spending time outside with my wife and my children, and you will often find me at local Fort Loramie sporting events here within the Village watching my children compete.  I am very proud of everything that the Village of Fort Loramie has to offer, and I am also very proud to serve as the Village Mayor at this time.
This website provides insight into the many wonderful qualities our small community offers, and why so many of us are so proud to call Fort Loramie home.  Community pride shines through as we continue to grow and make continuous improvements within our Village.  Many recent upgrades to all 3 of our Village parks, and multiple Village street renovation and improvement projects, are just some of the more recent projects that we have completed here in the Village of Fort Loramie over the last several years.  Street upgrade projects continue, with plans already in the works for more future street renovation projects to come.  We also continue to work with property developers to bring new residential streets, subdivisions, and housing developments into the Village for our community residents.  We also continue to work on Village park upgrades, with future plans for playground renovations, ball diamond upgrades, and more already in place.  Plans for expansion of our Village Industrial Park are currently underway as well, to expand commercial roadways, and to open up more lots for commercial building construction.
Tradition runs deep in our small town.  We are very proud of our local history, and our German ancestry, and we are very lucky to have a group, the Fort Loramie Historical Association, preserving many artifacts that are very significant to our area.  The spirit of volunteering and giving back runs deep within the Village of Fort Loramie.  Our Volunteer Village Fire Department and Rescue Squad Organizations, along with the Fort Loramie Historical Association, the Fort Loramie Area Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Loramie Liberty Days and German Heritage Days committees, the Fort Loramie American Legion and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and so many more other Village civic groups and organizations, are all ran entirely by volunteers.  These groups all play a very important role in our community.  Our Village Police Department continues to provide the Village of Fort Loramie with terrific overall safety and police protection, that is absolutely essential to small town daily life in rural areas.
While browsing this website be sure to visit the Fort Loramie Local Schools website as well.  The Fort Loramie School District is one of the top rated schools in all of Ohio for academic achievement, and they consistently earn an “excellent” rating from the State of Ohio nearly every year.  Fort Loramie Local Schools has also been awarded the United Stated “Blue Ribbon” Award as well for academic excellence.  Not only does Fort Loramie Local Schools have a proven reputation for high academic achievements, but it also provides students with a wide variety of other extracurricular activities and sports to play as well.  The Fort Loramie Redskins have won many multiple state championships over the years, in a wide variety of both boys and girls sports.
While you are here also check out the website for Saint Michael’s Catholic Church as well.  The absolutely incredible building that currently houses our Village church finished construction clear back in 1881, and it looks as magnificent today as it did back then.  The main steeple of Saint Michael’s Church towers over the Village of Fort Loramie and can be seen for miles even outside of town.  The Saint Michel’s Church building is a true testament to all those who came before us and built it, and it is a constant reminder to those of us that live here in the Village of Fort Loramie today, that full faith in God always stands the test of time from generation to generation.
The Village of Fort Loramie is located right next to beautiful Lake Loramie, and the Lake Loramie State Park and campground.  If you have not been to Lake Loramie before, I very highly encourage you to to visit Lake Loramie State Park and enjoy some of the many recreational activities offered in and around the wonderful lake.  From boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking and walking paths, camping, playgrounds, wildlife observation, beach going, picnics, family gatherings, the Lake Loramie Welcome Center and Museum, and so much more, the Lake Loramie State Park has something to offer to nearly anyone who loves nature and the outdoors.
We also hope that you will visit one of our our 3 Village parks, and spend some time with your family enjoying the outdoors within the Village of Fort Loramie as well.  Our Village parks offer various playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, batting cages, walking paths, and so much more.  The Village of Fort Loramie also offers a newly constructed, large and beautiful, rentable Pavilion for those interested in hosting a family gathering, reunion, graduation, or party of some sort.  We also offer a couple of different rentable shelter houses here within the Village as well.  For those of you potentially interested in renting a building here within the Village of Fort Loramie to host your next family, or private event, please call the Village Administrative Office at 937-295-3088.
Please consider the Fort Loramie Village Industrial Park for your next business endeavor or business expansion project.  For those looking to expand a current business, or those looking to startup a new business, I highly encourage you to partner with the fastest growing community in Shelby County here at the Village of Fort Loramie.  We have had several new building projects and expansions to existing businesses within our Village Industrial Park in recent years, and we look forward to continuing that growth for years to come.  The Village of Fort Loramie has consistently been very generous with multi year tax abatements, to those businesses looking to build within the Village Industrial Park, and also maintain a local workforce within the Village as well.
You too can become a part of the extended Fort Loramie Village community, by letting the people of our wonderful Village show you why Fort Loramie is such a great place to live, learn, work, and play.  If you would like to learn more about the Village of Fort Loramie, please call the Village Administrative Office and ask for me at 937-295-3088.  Thank you for visiting our Village website and learning more about Fort Loramie.  We hope that you will visit our Village in person real soon.
